Each member of our team brings a unique perspective and deep commitment to ensuring every client feels valued, protected, and understood.

Jonathan Varner is an accomplished insurance professional and former U.S. Army sergeant. After managing a pharmacy division and supporting combat operations in Afghanistan, Jonathan transitioned to Wampler Varner Insurance Group in 2015. He now leads a large and growing team of agents and representatives, proudly serving thousands of individuals and managing the insurance needs of hundreds of businesses, including some of the region’s largest employers. He holds a Bachelor of Science in General Studies and an MBA from the University of South Florida.

Deeply committed to his community, Jonathan actively serves on several local boards, including the Englewood Chamber of Commerce, YMCA, Dollars for Mammograms, Englewood Fire Control District Pension Board, The Learning Center for Children with Dyslexia, and Lemon Bay Sunrise Rotary.

A devoted husband and father, Jonathan enjoys spending his free time outdoors with his wife, Lauren, and their three sons. His Christian faith and commitment to service continue to guide both his professional leadership and his personal life.

David Wampler was born and raised in Northwest Indiana. He graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a minor in Economics. In 1982, he began his career in the insurance industry, and shortly thereafter, he and his wife, Tonya, relocated to beautiful Southwest Florida.

In 1987, David founded Wampler Insurance & Financial Group, which has grown over the past 30+ years into one of the largest employee benefits agencies in Southwest Florida—serving hundreds of businesses and thousands of individuals. A proud member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors since 1985, David earned his LUTCF designation in 1992 and continues to lead with a commitment to excellence and personalized service.

David is also a passionate community leader, with long-standing involvement in organizations such as Lemon Bay Sunrise Rotary, the Englewood YMCA, Coastal Community Church, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

Above all, David is a devoted husband, proud father of three, and grandfather to six. He enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends and remains committed to serving both his clients and his community with integrity and heart.

Tonya Wampler was born and raised in Ohio. After graduating from high school, she attended Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois. In 1981, she married David, and in 1984, they moved to Florida. Having grown up in a small, community-centered town, Englewood has been a perfect fit for her and a wonderful place to raise their children.

Since 1981, Tonya has worked as a Registered Nurse in Intensive Care and Cardiology. When their youngest child began preschool, she joined her husband’s business as a bookkeeper and office manager. In January 2008, she earned her insurance license to become a more active partner in the company.

Her medical background has equipped her to better serve clients—whether it’s selecting the appropriate health insurance plans or resolving claims issues. Recognizing the challenges posed by the ever-evolving health insurance industry, Tonya is committed to helping clients navigate these complexities and making the process as smooth and stress-free as possible.

Tonya’s presence at Wampler Varner Insurance Group, combined with her medical expertise, continues to be a tremendous asset to both the company and the clients they serve.

Robert Buckley was born in Fort Lauderdale but has called Englewood home since the age of three. As Senior Account Executive at Wampler Varner Insurance, Robert plays a vital role in helping local businesses navigate and manage their employee benefit programs. He ensures that each group receives the care, clarity, and customized solutions they deserve.

With over 15 years of dedication to his fiancée, Kayla, and as a proud father of two adventurous boys, Robert understands the importance of commitment—both at home and in the workplace. He and his family enjoy spending their free time soaking up the Florida sunshine, exploring nature, and cruising the coastline on their boat.

Driven by a genuine passion for helping others and a deep-rooted love for Englewood, Robert brings both heart and expertise to everything he does. Whether he’s supporting a local employer or enjoying a day on the water with his family, he remains dedicated to making a positive impact in the community he’s proud to call home.

Michelle Gilchrist brings over 20 years of dedicated experience in the insurance industry, with a strong focus on Group Health plans. As an Account Executive at Wampler Varner Insurance Group for the past four years, Michelle is known for her ability to navigate complex insurance policies and deliver optimal coverage solutions tailored to each client’s needs.

In addition to her Group Health expertise, Michelle is also well-versed in Medicare and Individual insurance plans, providing personalized guidance across a wide range of coverage options.

Outside of work, Michelle enjoys the scenic beauty of Venice’s beaches and treasures quality time with her family. Her commitment to both her clients and the local community shines through in her proactive, client-first approach to insurance advocacy and service.

Rachael serves as the Administrative Coordinator at Wampler Varner Insurance Group, keeping operations running smoothly behind the scenes. She works closely with the owner, Jonathan Varner, supporting daily functions and client services. Rachael oversees many of the company’s marketing efforts, organizes events, and helps ensure a seamless customer service experience. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, she provides valuable support to both the employee benefits and financial services teams.

With a background in the real estate industry, Rachael brings a unique perspective to her role. She is currently working toward obtaining her insurance license to further expand her professional expertise.

Born and raised in Englewood, Florida, Rachael is proud to call Southwest Florida her home. She finds joy in traveling and spent many summers growing up near the Great Smoky Mountains. She also has a passion for photography, often capturing the beauty of nature. In her free time, she values spending quality time with her family and her beloved dog, Luna.

Bryan Wallace has spent the past several years at Wampler Varner Insurance Group guiding individuals and families through health insurance, life planning, and retirement strategies—with clarity, compassion, and a healthy dose of humor. A former Army NCO with a background in behavioral health, Bryan brings both structure and empathy to every conversation, helping people feel confident in the decisions they make for themselves and their loved ones. Whether it’s health coverage, life insurance, or annuities, his priority is protecting families and leaving behind more than just good intentions.

Bryan has been married to his wife, Alona, for 17 years and proudly credits her as his rock and greatest teammate. Together, they’re raising two energetic daughters, a couple of spirited rescue dogs, and two cats who are convinced they run the household.

When he’s not working, you’ll find Bryan chasing laughter with his girls, strumming jazz chords on his guitar, or enjoying the rare quiet moments when the house finally settles down. He’s proud to serve a community where relationships matter—and where being a little weird just means you’re exactly where you belong.

Jaryd Clary is dedicated to serving the Englewood community with a personalized, people-first approach. As a valued member of the team at Wampler Varner Insurance Group, he works closely with individuals to navigate their health insurance, Medicare, and financial services needs. In addition to his client-focused role, Jaryd supports the employee benefits division, leads marketing efforts, and coordinates company events.

Originally from Massachusetts, Jaryd has proudly called Englewood, Florida, home for over 20 years. He attended Warner University, where he played collegiate baseball and developed the work ethic, leadership, and team spirit that now define his professional approach.

Outside of work, Jaryd gives back to the community as a coach for the Lemon Bay High School baseball team. He and his girlfriend, Katie, are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their first child and enjoy spending time at home with their two lively dogs, Gunner and Vinny.

Steve Arnett brings over 15 years of experience in the insurance industry and a passion for helping families make confident financial decisions. At Wampler Varner Insurance Group, Steve plays a key role on the financial services team, building lasting relationships and guiding clients as they plan for their future. He also supports health and Medicare solutions, contributes to marketing initiatives, and helps coordinate company events.

Originally from Indiana, Steve made Southwest Florida his home several years ago and has been an active member of the community ever since. Outside the office, Steve is a devoted family man who enjoys fishing, traveling, and creating meaningful memories with his wife and two children.

Alfred Current joined Wampler Varner Insurance Group this year, bringing with him over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. He holds several professional designations, including Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC), and Certified Tax and Business Advisor (CTBA). Alfred is passionate about financial education and is known for making complex topics easy to understand. He frequently employs little-known strategies that help maximize wealth accumulation and retention, while also guiding clients through effective risk mitigation and long-term planning to secure a brighter future and lasting legacy.

Alfred and his wife, Karen, live in Englewood, Florida. They are active members of Gulf Cove United Methodist Church, The Rotary Club of Englewood, and several local business and philanthropic organizations. Alfred has four children, and together he and Karen proudly share ten grandchildren.
